Mar 28

The “Holy Week” vacation started last March 24 for me, although I was able to go home a little early last March 23. Then Thursday, I went to UP to pick up Dona and Nikki and had Thai food at the Banana Leaf in Alabang.

The evening was spent with Joahanna’s family who was leaving for Singapore on the 26th and would probably be staying there for good, and once more we had more food…

Good Friday was spent bonding with family at Tagaytay Highlands, where we spent the most part of the day walking, shopping and eating (again). We went home after a bout with outbound traffic and watched somemore television and some more food before retiring for bed.

Saturday, Deng went out early — he had to give a seminar to PNGPA guards at Intel as early as 5:00 am and we (Dona, Nikki and Denise) spent the earlier hours (meaning the whole morning) in bed, only getting up for lunch or to go to the bathroom for that matter. Later in the afternoon, Nikki asked permission to go out with Lance to Festival Mall in Alabang and came home around 10:00 pm — I think she mentioned Lance will be leaving for the US first week of April and so would like to spend some time with her before he leaves.

Next day, is Sunday — Easter Sunday ! But somehow it felt like it is just an ordinary Sunday where we had to take the girls back to Diliman in time for finals’ week.

And I wonder — when did we stop going to church? When did we stop commemorating holy week? When did we stop doing what everybody else we know are doing? Have we stopped being Catholics? Have we stopped trying to be holy?
