The story of Angelo dela Cruz has been around for several days and the media has played it up exaggeratingly that so many hoolabaloohs have been created.
But how does this episode in the life of Filipino overseas worker affect all of us?
Well for one, Richardone has been called back to Washington apparently to discuss what to do with the present relationship between the US and the Philippines… and how would this affect us in particular?
Several things come to mind….
== getting a visa to the US might be very, very, very difficult again
== financial aid for the Philippines might take ages again before it gets released
== future financial aids may be held in abbeyance
== filipinos currently in the US maybe persecuted and discriminated against - racial discrimination originated from them isn’t it?
Personally, I feel this has an effect on me too…
– my dream of ever seeing the US in the near future may have gone further away and the hopes of ever going there at least in the next few years maybe a remote possibility.
One of my greatest wish yet to be fulfilled may stay only as a dream unfulfilled… unrealized.
